How To Add Favorites in Internet Explorer

If there are websites that you regularly visit, it may be useful to add them as a favorite (also known as a bookmark) in Internet Explorer 9.  By adding these links, you can quickly navigate to them at a later stage without having to type in the full URL or website address every time.


1.      Open Internet Explorer 9.

2.      In the address bar at the top of your screen, type in the website address you would like to add to your favorites list and press the Enter key.

3.      Your selected website will be displayed.

4.      In the top right-hand corner of the window, you will see three icons.  The middle image is a star, which allows you to access your favorites, any RSS feeds you may have as well as a history of all the websites you have recently visited.

5.      Click the star to display a list of your favorite links.  You may see existing favorite links or folders containing links.

 

 

6.      To add this website to the list, click the Add to Favorites button.
NOTE:Ctrl+D is the shortcut to open the Add to Favorite window.

7.      You can now choose to add a different name for the favorite or store it in a different folder.

1. If you would like it to appear as part of the main list, ensure that Favorites is selected from the Create in drop-down arrow.
2. If you would like to save the favorite inside one of the existing folders, click the drop-down arrow and select the folder.
3. If you would like to create a new folder to save the favorite in, click New folder, enter a name for the folder and then click Create.  You will then be able to select it from the drop-down arrow.

8.      Once you have enter the correct name and location, click Add.

9.      To access your new favorite link, click the star at the top-right of your window and select the link from the list.
